FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions)

  1. How do I communicate with my child while he/she is at camp?

    • Please be aware that we only have one (1) phone at camp for all campers and calls can only be made during meals. Frequent phone calls can also make homesickness worse. Please keep calls to once per week. We do encourage writing letters as a form of communication as well.

  2. What time are meals?

    • Typically, Breakfast (завтрак) is at 9:00 AM, Lunch (обед) is at 1 PM, and Dinner (ужин) is at 6:00 PM.

    • Please be aware that meal times may change depending on the activities of the day, such as Vespers/Vigil, Liturgy, etc.

  3. Can my child have a phone or electronics while at camp?

    • Campers are not permitted to bring cell phones, MP3 players, gaming consoles, or other related electronic devices to camp. These items will be confiscated. Digital cameras are allowed.

  4. What is "магазин"?

    • Mагазин usually runs after lunch and it allows for campers to get a small snack. They can either purchase something from the camp store or bring their own care package. We usually ask that you leave $20 dollars for your child to use on purchases. If you send your camper with a care package, please make sure that food is nonperishable and is in a box with a sealable lid.

  5. When can I visit my child at camp?

    • Visiting day is on Sundays. We invite you to attend Liturgy. Afterward, please join us for lunch in the Stolovaya. You can then spend “мертвый час” with your camper. Please do not enter the individual camps. Also, your child must remain on camp property and must return to their cabin at the end of the hour.

    • If you need to come to camp for any other reason, please email info@orprcamp.org or speak to the Nachalnik of the week to receive permission.
